Chris & Alison Hawksbee
Chris is trained as an agriculturalist and works with three of the 17 ethnic groups in Paraguay. Now living in Asuncion, he travels frequently to the Chaco. He negotiates between the church and people in the Chaco with the Paraguayan government and NGOs. He assists pastors of the Anglican church, encourages groups in Christian living, and advises on agricultural, sustainability and development issues.
Alison is left on her own a lot, with Chris away on his trips to the Chaco. She teaches at an American school, set up for American missionary kids but open to others, including children from rich Paraguayan families. Apart from teaching English as a Second Language, she teaches Science and also has a remedial maths group for three children with various health and learning problems.
Please pray for Chris and Alison’s work, and for the church in Paraguay. There is a need for more trained pastors, particularly as many are now approaching retirement. The lack of suitable national pastors has meant that an English bishop has just been appointed, as the only suitable national candidates are both retiring.
